The route is located in the Dwingelderveld National Park. Nowhere in Europe has such a large wet heathland area been preserved as here in southwest Drenthe. The nature reserve covers 3700 hectares and offers, in addition to heathlands, also forests and small lakes where many special plants grow. The heath is also the habitat of rare butterfly and bird species. The northern part of the national park is forested.
"I regularly use this mountain biking route as part of my training. It is a perfect route for beginners as it is not very technical. I can ride at a good pace here, but I also enjoy Dwingelderveld and love to look over the heathlands."
