Smeerling is a hamlet between Vlagtwedde and Onstwedde. It has a protected village layout and consists of eight Saxon farms. The enormous barns are reminiscent of the time when grain prices brought great prosperity to Oldambt. The route leads through the valley of the Ruiten Aa, partly over areas of Natuurmonumenten, where nature is given a full chance to thrive. Here, among other things, you can encounter field flowers such as cornflowers and field violets.
