A short journey through history that starts in Tange. A hamlet on a sand ridge, first mentioned as a place of residence in 1841. Between Alteveer and Tange, "The Pebble of Alteveer" (30 tons) was found in 1980. The rock, which now lies in M.F.C. De Drijscheer, is believed to have come here from Scandinavia during the penultimate ice age. After the mammoths and rhinoceroses came the people. Most were poor and lived in sod huts. The last one in Alteveer was inhabited until 1941.
