Description by the author

This round goes through three values: the Bommelerwaard, Tielerwaard and Alblasserwaard. A host is an old name for a flat landscape in a river area. This means that on this route you cycle along the rivers Maas, Waal, Linge, Giessen (a peat river) and the Dammed Maas. Along the way you will encounter many photo opportunities (fortified towns of Heusden and Woudrichem, Fort Herwijnen, Ammersoyen Castle, Slot Well, and many views from river dikes, mills, etc.). On this route you also take two springs: Herpt-Bern and Brakel-Herwijnen.

From Oud-heusden you first cycle along the cycle path past the fortified town of Heusden, in the direction of Herpt.
After leaving Herpt you will see an electronic sign, if it says "spring curdled", then you know that the ferry Herpt - Bern cannot take and has to cycle back to Heusden. From Herpt you cycle to Hedikhuizen and then on a cycle path on the dike along the Maas.
Then you take ferry Bern - Herpt and cycle along the other side of the Meuse, past Well Castle and Ammersoyen Castle.

Through the polder you go to the Waal and cycle for miles along the Waal. Via ferry Brakel - Herwijnen you go to the other side of the Waal.
You cycle past Fort Herwijnen and then for a long time along the Linge.

Then you cross through the polders to the river Giessen (a peat river), where you also cycle along for a longer period of time.

Via busier roads over a distance of 5 km you reach the other side of the Maas (you cycle over the viaduct of the A27 over the Boven-Merwede).
Then you go on quiet roads right through the fortified town of Woudrichem. You then cycle along the Boven-Merwede, partly on a separate asphalted cycle path over the river dike. Then you cycle for a long time along the Dammed Maas (through the Land of Altena), to finally end in the fortified town of Heusden.
