This varied route is all about 'water' and 'land'. Forest area the Woldberg and the Eese is a beautiful gently sloping terrain amidst grasslands, deciduous and coniferous forests. The surroundings of Steenwijkerwold are characterized by old hedgerows that used to serve as a natural separation from the land. The route goes through National Park De Weerribben with its many ditches and via the Water village Giethoorn to the fortified city of Steenwijk.
