Bussum, Laren, Eemnes, Blaricum, Naarden

Bussum, once popular with artists, gained nationwide renown through television studios like Studio Irene and the theatre 't Spant. Laren was originally a farming village but evolved into an artists' and commuter village in the 19th century. Nowadays, together with Blaricum, it is one of the wealthiest municipalities in our country. Eemnes actually consists of two parts: Eemnes-Binnen, which is made up of a series of farms along the Wakkerendijk, and Eemnes-Buiten, with many new buildings around an old village core. Blaricum is so popular that it would be strange not to meet a well-known Dutch person there. Naarden, famous for its unique star shape, is one of the best-preserved fortified towns in Europe. One gets a good picture of the excellently restored fortress during a walk around the fortifications; or during a boat trip through the surrounding waters.
