This walking route contains a literal and a figurative highlight. After a steep climb you reach 'the roof of the Netherlands', where you enjoy a beautiful view. A view over this landscape gives you a glimpse into the past. It was the Romans who mined this area on a large scale for agriculture. All those fields are Roman heritage. There is also an archaeological highlight from Roman times, because you pass the site of one of the most important Roman finds in the Netherlands: the lady of Simpelveld. After the short, but spicy round you can treat yourself to coffee with ' Roman' flan. Please note, this route is not signposted.
