In addition to being able to view the sheep herd that maintains the heath, you can also start numerous walks from there and park your bicycle or car.
The Schapedrift is located on the border of the real Veluwe heathland and the forest area.
There is also a playground for the children and a tavern for the elderly. You will also see an explanation of how the water of the visitor center is biologically purified via a sand mountain, reed roots and a shell layer.
The herd of Ermelo belongs to the rare cattle breed the Veluws Heideschaap. Although there is little meat and a not too good quality wool, this breed was chosen from a historical perspective. It is a rare farm animal breed that originated in this region. We are a recognized breeding company and contribute to the conservation of the species. Admission is free.
