Varied estate de Eese - Long version (27km)

Varied route that does just a little different than most routes. The paths I have 'discovered' in years of walking and running are picturesque, fairytale-like and some paths endless to lose yourself in. At the extremes of this route it is extinct. Chances are, even on a mooeie Sunday afternoon, you won't run into anyone.

This varied route starts and ends at Hotel Gelderinge in Steenwijkerwold and takes you along long sandy paths, heathland, narrow forest paths, fens, meadows, farm paths and an alternative route over the popular Woldberg. The cozy villages of Steenwijkerwold, Witte Paarden and Tuk are also visited.

The route lends itself extremely well to trail running and hiking. The route avoids a number of busy stopping places is therefore very quiet.

The route skips a number of important sights such as Huis de Eese and the burial mounds. There are plenty of other routes that go along there.

Edit 22-8-2020: closed road section diverted. Part of cycle path replaced by dirt road.
