Castles Tour Southeast Utrecht 🚴 ♂️

From/to: start at parking lot^ t.o. Ludenlaan 1, 3941 CN Doorn, municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, The Netherlands. Free parking.

Very nice recreational bike ride along 17 castles and knight's homesteads -mainly privately owned- in the southeast of the province of Utrecht. Half of them are located in the rural area of the Langbroekerwetering. You will cycle past 'sumptuous showpieces of power and splendour', which are described separately under Sights:

Huis Doorn* and Moersbergen Castle in Doorn,
castles Walenburg (150 m from the road), Sandenburg, the gatehouse of Groenestein, Lunenburg, Hindersteyn, Weerdesteyn (800 m from the road) in Langbroek,
castles Leeuwenburgh, Hardenbroek (more than 1 km from the road, only accessible on foot) and Sterkenburg in Driebergen,
castles Broekhuizen (with Michelin star) and Zuylenstein (400 m from the road) in Leersum,
castles Amerongen* and Natewisch (450 m from the road) in Amerongen,
Duurstede Castle* in Wijk bij Duurstede and
Rhijnestein Castle in Cothen,
Beverweert Castle in Werkhoven is 3.5 km from the route,
Wickenburgh Castle in 't Goy is 9 km from the route.
