This circular walk in Eygelshoven showcases the labor history of this region. The two coal mines, Julia and Laura, were located a stone's throw away from each other, and in between them was a lignite mine where a natural burial site has now appeared.
The Hopel has a distinctive monumental district, the Oude Hopel, a small community with characteristic white houses that now seem very charming. With the closure of the mines, a lot of land became available, where nature has now found its way. Walking over the old mining area but also through the bushes that were created for and by the mines for the wood that was needed for support.
