de Mark and Aa and Weerijs

Flowing north from Belgium, two rivers merge in Breda. To the west it is the Aa or Weerijs, east the Mark. Along the latter there has been a beautiful cycle path for 20 years, which starts at Meer (B) and ends 15 kilometers later in the Ginneken (Breda-Zuid). This cycle path has been a great success from the start of construction. It has proved to be a tourist attraction.

We believe that this beautiful and busy cycle path along the Mark deserves to be followed along the Aa or Weerijs. The Zundertse hinterland is beautiful; A world opens up for you. For many people from Breda, Rijsbergen and Zundertenaren, it is a long-cherished wish. Enjoy cycling with the city at your back to van Gogh's birthplace or vice versa. From Breda to Zundert (or in the future to Wuustwezel or Hoogstraten) and vice versa via Meer along the Mark back, that would be nice, wouldn't it? What a wonderful cycling detour with great tourist potential!

The catchment area of the Aa or Weerijs has a lot to offer. The landscape is romantic and beautiful. You drive between the strawberry fields and multicolored tree nurseries, through forests and along the water. The villages offer a variety of catering establishments; nice terraces, the tastiest ice cream parlors, excellent restaurants, accommodation in hotel, B &B and on (mini) campsites.
