From station to station of the Zuid Limburgse Stoomtram Maatschappij

A beautiful route from the terminus of the nostalgic steam train at the Museumplein in Kerkrade to the centrally located old station in Simpelveld. This is a part of the railway line that was built at the time and where the 'Blue Angel' ran over. The name is derived from the color of the train and the railway line has been given the name "Million Line" because the construction cost many millions. Now it is only used as a tourist attraction with an old steam locomotive or a so-called Schienenbus. It is recommended to do the way back with one of these trains.

This walking route is even more special because there are many road or field crosses along the route and passes the place where a unique find was made a few years ago by a farmer while plowing. The plow hit a Roman tombstone. This sarcophagus is now in the museum in Leiden.

The route runs largely through Germany almost entirely through nature reserve and here you can see how beautiful this border area is. It also reminds us of the 2nd World War through the Siegfried Line where we walk almost entirely along and can still be seen here, although it is sometimes hidden between hardwood. So take a good look and enjoy the walk.
