Wallsteijn walk

Landgoed Wallsteijn borders the Oude Buisse Heide. In this quiet border region you can walk endlessly through old forests, along heathland and fens, fields, meadows and cultural-historical farms. The beautiful tree-lined avenues, park forests, tea domes and country houses give the landscape a stately tint.
Wallsteijn was built around 1800 by Frederik van de Wall, rear admiral in Zundert. The country house with immediate surroundings is still privately owned. The Zondreef runs past the mansion, which leads to a sight dome in the south of the estate. On the estate is also the old tea dome from 1840 where Henriëtte Roland Holst regularly stayed. Here you have a beautiful view over the countryside due to the elevated position of the tea dome. From the mansion, the Spiegeldreef leads to a rectangular pond.

Landgoed Oude Buisse Heide is connected to a historic year and illustrious residents. In 1945, writer and politician Henriëtte Roland Holst (1869-1952) donated this special nature reserve to Natuurmonumenten.
A visit is more than worth it. The Oude Buisse Heide and the adjacent De Moeren and Wallsteijn are varied estates with old forests, meadows, fields, fens, remnants of heathland, hedgerows and farms. The beautiful tree-lined avenues, park forests, tea domes and country houses give the landscape a stately touch. The Dome Route does not bother with property boundaries and shows you this small-scale landscape as a whole.
