Bakelse lakes

The circular walk starts and ends at Sint Wilbertsplein 12, 5761BK in Bakel.
From the monumental Willibrorduskerk, the walk goes to the wooded area and over rolling forest paths to the Zandseberg. Further on, the walking route goes over paved roads through farmland towards the Bakelse Plassen and golf course Stippelberg (27 holes) and the associated brasserie. The route continues along the golf course and Bakels plas. A little further is a bird watching spot with a view over the ponds. The walk continues along walking paths next to the ponds and forests. Many species of birds can be seen from the walking paths on the water as well as in the reeds and forest edges. On the island, the operational sand extraction facility and sand hills can be seen.
About halfway through the walk is the estate Nederheide with the beach resort and Nature Gate Nederheide. Along sandy paths next to the stream "de Snelle Loop," the route later goes over a paved road to Bospark Bakel. In this forest park are, among others, the nursing home St. Jozefsheil and the former Jan de Wit clinic. From the forest park, the route continues along the bike path to the endpoint of the route. Here, various catering options are available for a tasty bite and drink.
This walk is definitely worth it.
