Darthuizerberg and Leersumse Veld

From/to: start at the parking lot* of the Leersumse Veld on the Woudenbergseweg (N226) between Maarsbergen and Leersum, municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Free parking.

During the breeding season from mid-March to the end of August, the south-eastern part of the Leersumse Veld is closed in a westerly direction over a length of approximately 1 km.

At almost any time of the year, this is a very beautiful and hilly route for walkers and joggers over the wooded Darthuizerberg and back along the beautiful Leersumse Veld. After 2080 meters you pass a real ice meltwater valley, formed in the penultimate ice age. Stop for a moment at the burial mound and enjoy the beautifully flowering heathland of Breeveen in August.
