Estate avenues and hedgehog lake

This route goes past some gems of the route Along castles and views. The hike starts from the Green Entrance Prattenburg car park, which has the advantage that you immediately start climbing the ridge. The Prattenburg Estate with its beautiful stately beech avenues is a great start. The van Asch van Wijck family, owner of the estate, invests a huge amount in maintaining these avenues. After Prattenburg you come to the Elsterberg and from the Noorderlaan you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.

A descent over a heath follows and a little further on you are on the shore of the Hedgehog Lake. It is not entirely clear where the lake got its name from. Unfortunately, due to problems with the groundwater level, the lake is not always filled with water. But it is certainly a nice spot!

Over the lower part of the estate and finally also past Huize Prattenburg, the starting point is reached again after almost 8 kilometers.
