IJsselroute

The IJssel or Gelderse IJssel is a Dutch branch of the Rhine. The river diverges at Westervoort east of Arnhem from the Rhine at Kmr 878.6 and flows northeastward and later northward to the Ketelmeer and subsequently the IJsselmeer.

We start this route at the Ramspol Bridge where the IJssel flows into the Ketelmeer. From this bridge, there is a beautiful view of the IJssel delta and the special bag dam. At the starting point, there is plenty of opportunity to park. If using public transport, starting in Kampen or IJsselmuiden is an option. On the route to the beginning of the IJssel, we follow the western bank of the river on the way there and as much as possible the eastern bank on the way back. The aim was to follow the course of the water as much as possible. Also, the beginning and end of the route have been chosen in such a way that there are almost no parts used twice. The goal is the place where the IJssel branches off from the Rhine.
