We take the local train RE31 from Oslo S to Snippen and walk back towards the Kjelsås train station. Just above Kjelsås, we decide to head west towards Sognsvann and take the metro back to Oslo S.

Lovely varied walk on narrow paths but also on wide paved paths.

The first part of the walk takes place on the paths of Maridalsrunden, a well-maintained path that winds through the forests.
After 8.5 km you can choose to walk to the Kjelsås train station. This is also where the Akerselva hike towards Oslo S starts, which is about 10 km.
We decide to walk to Sognsvann along paved paths.
At the 11.5 km point, we deviate from the paved path and continue in a curve along a small and a slightly larger lake. The section to the first small lake can be muddy. But the view is beautiful. You can also continue along the paved path to the endpoint.

The endpoint at Sognsvann is, in nice weather, a gathering place for locals who come here to picnic. You can also buy snacks here.
