With its many hotels, guesthouses, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops, it is a stopping point for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims from around the world en route to Muktinath Temple and for trekkers on the popular Annapurna Circuit, which circles the Annapurna Himal . .

It is very famous for the Shree Muktinath Temple , a sacred place highly revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.

Narsingh Monastery is also located in Muktinath.
