This walk takes you through the Błędów Desert. The Błędów Desert is also called the "Polish Sahara" because of its unique desert-like landscape. It is not a real desert in terms of climate: precipitation is too high, but the sandy landscape and phenomena such as fata morganas and sandstorms used to occur here regularly. In the 20th century, the area was used as a military training ground, including by the German Afrika Korps during World War II.
