The “Torre dos Almadas”, so named because the house belonged to the Almadas family, and possibly dates back to the 16th century .
When streets were opened up and spaces were widened to allow for better health in the city, around the 1930s, one of the demolition works that were carried out, that of the Almadas house, which was partially demolished , thus forming the current at Tulha.
A three-story granite tower with a hipped roof will be exposed, with no windows overlooking the square.
The Torre dos Almadas is one of the icons of the Nicolinos and has been the headquarters of their association since 1968. The Nicolinos are the organizers of the Nicolinas parties . Student parties, characteristic of the city of Guimarães.
This tower is closed to the public, but is open during the weekend of Guimarães Noc Noc (a weekend in October). During these weekends, admission is free.
