Church of Our Lady of Lapa - Ponte de Lima

The church is located in the historic centre of the city and was built in the 18th century with the alms of devotion of D. Tristão de Menezes and the parish priest of the city.

The church was built on land donated by the mayor, Tomaz de Lima, on the condition that his coat of arms be placed on the facade .

The front facade is rectangular with a single nave and choir and is delimited by pilaster-shaped wedges. On the right, attached to the facade, is the bell tower with a clock. The door is crowned by a large window with interior lighting and the latter by the coat of arms of the Tomaz de Lima family.

The Santuário da Senhora da Lapa sanctuary was built in the second half of the 17th century on the rocks where, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared.
