The rectorate of the University of Minho is located in the Largo Do Paço square.
The former Archbishop's Palace houses the service. It was built in the 14th century by Archbishop D. Fernando Guerra and was renovated in the 16th and 18th centuries. The coffered ceiling in the reading room deserves special mention, as does the Castelos fountain in the courtyard.
The Public Library operates in this space. The floor plan is in the shape of a cross and has a saddle roof.
