The monument to former overseas fighters was unveiled in 2010.
It is in memory of those who fell defending Portugal in the Overseas War.
The ensemble consists of two different elements . The central piece is a column, "torn" at the top as a symbol of the separation between the past and the future , with a plaque with the names of the 42 villagers who lost their lives in the Overseas War. In the middle is a statue of a young warrior who spent some of the best years of his life in Africa.
On the other side, on the bench by the river , next to the sitting area, there is a statue of a woman , which symbolizes the melancholy of the families who have seen their loved ones leave, in a double meaning.
The work was carried out by Manuel Sousa Pereira, Eduardo Bompastor and João Macedo.
