Description:
This hike is a flat walk that runs from Altura to the river (Rio Guadiana), which also forms the border with Spain in Vila Real de Santo António.
Primarily, this hike goes through pine forests.
Halfway, in the tourist town of Monte Gordo (quite a few hotels), there is ample opportunity to see the fishermen at work trying to sell their catches.
The final destination Vila Real de Santo António is a very charming town where it is wonderful to linger and have lunch :-).
The return journey to Tavira can be done by bus or train.
