Legendary Adventure - Walk 5 - Tavira Island - beach to Santa Luzia and back

Preamble:

Description:
This circular walk starts at the hotel.
We walk along the Gilão River to the mouth of the sea (Cais des Quatro Ágeas) where the ferry to Isla de Tavira takes us to the beach.
From here, we follow the beautiful, endless, and nearly deserted beach to the west for about 5 km to Praia do Barril.
There we come across the Cemitério das Anchors (Cemetery of the Anchors). Here lie the silent witnesses of the vanished tuna fishing from the second half of the 19th century until 1966.
During the tuna season (April to October), the fishing nets were attached to these anchors and then thrown into the sea.
You can either walk back or take the tourist train to return to the mainland.
From there we go along the marshlands towards Santa Luzia. These marshes become (partially) submerged during high tide.
In Santa Luzia, there are enough places to strengthen the inner person before we continue on towards Tavira.
Before we reach Tavira, we pass the quiet western salt pans of Tavira.
