Among the touristic attractions of the city of Timisoara we can include the Union Square, representative of the Baroque style and the oldest market in town. Here you can meet important sights such as the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Baroque Palace, Serbian Orthodox Episcopal Cathedral, Bruck House, Theoretical High Nikolaus Lenau, Trinity monument, the fountain with mineral water etc.
The Union Square was known in the XX century as the Market Losonczy, after Stephen Losonczy, killed by the Turks in 1522 when they conquered the city. The present name is given in 1919, an important year in the history of Timisoara because then the Romanian troops stopped in the square. Currently, the Union Square is the meeting place of young people, sprinkled with terraces and bars suitable for leisure.
