Kongresni trg je ime dobil po kongresu svete Alianse, ki je potekal v Ljubljani leta 1821. Deli se na dva dela: Kongresni trg in park Zvezda. Kongresni trg je dolgo časa služil kot parkirišče, vendar so mu po prenovi leta 2011 vrnili osnovno funkcijo. Na njem potekajo koncerti, predstave, proslave in dogodki. Park Zvezda je dobil ime po svoji zvezdasto simetrični obliki. Senco dajejo platane, ki jih je poleg kamnitih stebričkov v park dodal Plečnik. Sredi parka stoji spomenik Sidro, ki predstavlja spomin na vrnitev Primorske k matični domovini, pri prehodu proti Plečnikovemu trgu pa kip Emonca. Univerza v Ljubljani stoji na robu Kongresnega trga v nekdanjem Kranjskem deželnem dvorcu. Ustanovljena je bila leta 1919 in slovi kot največja univerza v Sloveniji. Pod svojim okriljem ima 26 članic, od tega 23 fakultet in 3 umetniške akademije.
