Wat Mani Chon Khan stands at the confluence of tributary waterways with the Lopburi River. The monastery was originally called Wat Ko Kaeo because it was located on a small island. Interesting to see are, Chedi Luang Pho Saeng, the ubosot, the vihara and the large Buddha image along the river.
Wat Mani Chon Khan on the island in the Lopburi River just north of the palace was a favourite site, for the Ayutthayan princes to relax far from palace protocol. Princes would pack only kapi (shrimp paste) and nam phrik (sauce with chillies), and once on the island, would pick water vegetables like phak bung and santawa, douse them with condiments, and eat them raw.
