Description

Wat Phra Borommathat Worawihan is an old Buddhist monastery of Chai Nat situated on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River and near the origin of the Noi River. The temple is a second-class royal temple and it has been a national treasure since the early Ayutthaya period. On its premises is a laterite prang from the Khmer period housing Lord Buddha's relics. The prang was renovated in the Ayutthaya and Ratanakosin periods. Within the precincts of the temple is the Chai Nat Muni National Museum which displays several kinds of artifacts discovered in the town including Buddha images of different postures, as well as Thai and Chinese ceramics.
