Nakhon Sawan is known as the origin of the Chao Phraya River as the Ping River merges with the Nan River at Pak Nam Pho Sub-district in front of the town on the right bank and the Chao Pho Thepharak - Chao Mae Thapthim Shrine on the left bank. The two rivers become the main 370 Km long Chao Phraya River, flowing through provinces in the Central region to reach Bangkok and ens up in the Gulf of Thailand at Samut Prakan.
