Puek Tian is a small beach resort known for its statues in the sea depicting characters from Thailand's famous poet Phra Sunthorn Vohara (1786–1855 CE), better known as Sunthorn Phu. He began his epic 30,000-line story Phra Aphai Mani when he was jailed for fighting. The poem tells the story of Prince Aphai Mani, who plays a magic flute, causing people to sleep and eventually die. All the major characters from Phra Aphai Mani can be seen standing in the sea, on islands or on the raised part of the beach. The most prominent of which is a six metres tall Phi Suea Samut.
