Prang Ku Ruesi is an ancient Khmer site situated at Nong Yueang in Ban Mai Chaiyaphot. According to an inscription discovered at Ta Prohm, King Jayavarman VII built 102 Arogayasalas; hospitals spread throughout the Khmer empire along the main roads. It is thought that Kuti Rishi or Kuti Ruesi (literally cells of ascetics) were chapels located near these hospitals. It is believed that hospitals themselves were made of wood. Many inscriptions in Khmer and Sanskrit were found near these arogayasalas in relation to these hospitals.
Prang Ku Ruesi is such an hospital chapel built by Jayavarman VII in present Buriram Province. This redented laterite tower in its small enclosure was built during the reign of Jayavarman VII in the Bayon style of Late 12th to Early 13th century as the chapel for an hospital.
