Dan Kwian village is known for its unique pottery widely used for interior and outdoor decoration. The clay at Dan Kwian is of exceptional marvellous quality of tough, ductile texture and the colour of rust beyond comparison and the quantity is fantastic. The village is located by the Mun River and used to be on a trade route between Khorat and Cambodia in the Ayutthaya period. The villagers formerly earned their living from rice paddy and farming along the banks of the Mun River and were taught how to make pottery by the Kha ethnic minority native to the Mekong Basin. In the early period, pottery items were made entirely for household use, such as large water jars, jars, mortars, etc. The products are now even exported abroad.
