Kaeng Khut Khu has a legend involving a gargantuan hunter who chased a water buffalo with silver horns. The event caused a mountain to collapse and formed a cliff known today as Pha Baen, and the hunter built a dam with tree trunks and rocks in order to find the runaway buffalo, but the buffalo got away and became Phu Khwai Ngoen (Silver-horned Buffalo Mountain). The dam then became Kaeng Khut Khu, the remarkable cataract consisting of rocks of different sizes and shapes in the middle of the Mekong River. [TAT]
