Wat Buddha-En was built in 1868. The monastery has an ordination hall that rests on wooden piles in a lotus-filled pond. The main vihara murals are depicting the Chadok (the last ten lives of Lord Buddha prior to enlightenment). Also featured are elephants and lacquer decorations on the tree-trunks that support the entrance holding up the portico. Banners associated with the Lan Na culture hang from the ceiling. The interior is low and dark like most Lan Na temples. The temple was formerly known as Wat Si Sutthawat En Mongkut. Legend has that the Lord Buddha on his trip to this area stopped at Don Sakan, on the east of the temple. He had his patron Ananda bring him some drinking water. He rinsed his mouth where the well is now located. The water from the well flows bubbling from the underground and runs all year round. Later, two monks on a pilgrimage passed by and had the villagers construct the temple here.
