Description

The Lava Tower is one of the points where the volcano spewed lava. That was about 150,000 years ago.

Now Lava Tower serves as a cork on top of the volcano , holding back the lava. It is 90m high . There used to be a lot of climbing to have a 360 degree panoramic view, but that is now forbidden.

There is a campsite . It is at an altitude of almost 4600 m.

The lava tower is located in the alpine desert area , where there are almost no plants , no rain and no animals. Snow does not fall on the Lava Tower, but ice crystals form at night from condensation.
