Mur de la Barranca - Kilimanjaro

With its 257 meter vertical wall, the Barranco Wall seems almost an insurmountable obstacle.

This seems to be the case with the “breakfast wall” as well. You get up and see colored dots on the vertical wall on the other side of the canyon...

Once there, it's not that bad: the ascent is sideways on a path between and over the rocks. Climbing is all about stepping on rocks , holding on to ledges, getting up, looking to the next spot to put down your hand or foot...but: it doesn't require any technical climbing skills.

A well-known part of the Barranco Wall is "the kissing rock" or " hugging wall". In the upper area it gets so narrow that you can only cling to the rock face as if you were kissing it.

The best attitude for the ascent is to enjoy the scenery and go up bit by bit. If it is very crowded, you even have to wait for the predecessors...

The ascent takes between 1 and 2 hours .
