There are a few reasons to put the Venetian in the 'top things to see in Vegas'. First of all, this was the place where the famous casino 'Sands' stood. The 'Sands' was the place to see the Rat Pack: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.
The second reason is that you have to judge for yourself which part of this Casino you like. Some aspects are interesting (for some nicely done), some will definitely give Europeans the 'OHNOH'-feeling.
A third reason is that this casino was opened by Sophia Loren. The owner, Sheldon Adelson, who made his fortune organizing congresses, could get her over to open his hotel having more than 6000 suites.
