Matthew Hongoltz-Hetling wrote about a curious libertine experiment that took place in Grafton. You can read about it in the book with the funny title A liberterian walks into a bear. Jason Sorens , an extremely freedom- loving political scientist, founded an online movement in 2001: The Free State Project . The members agreed to move to this place, Grafton, as soon as there were 20,000 like-minded people, and "liberate" this small town in New Hampshire. They would take over the city government and reorganize society with the smallest possible role for the government and as much personal freedom as possible. There is a bear on the cover of the book. This has everything to do with a problem that this experiment faced. Grafton's libertarians faced a bear plague as a result of some of the choices they made in their experimental society.
