Every year a column of intense blue light is sent into the sky from this place. It is known as ' Tribute of Light '. This period also coincides with bird migration. The birds are extremely attracted to that light and that light disrupts their flight. The result is that they start to swarm around that pillar of light. The numbers and density are so great that the swarm even lights up on radar screens. Biologist Benjamin van Doren began studying the phenomenon and discovered that the flock can contain up to 1.1 million birds.
