Manhattan - Central Park naar High Line

We take an extensive walk in the city center using our walking GPS. The walk starts in Central Park. We are really fans of this romantically designed park.

Further on, we pass the iconic Flat Iron Building at Madison Square. It is a strikingly narrow triangular building with a pointed tip. It was built shortly after the turn of the last century and was the tallest building in the world until 1909.

We discover West Village, a wonderfully quiet, colorful neighborhood in the center with charming houses. It's nice to escape the busy dynamics of the city for a moment in these green streets.

Finally, we visit a special park. High Line Park is a recently established park on top of an old and neglected viaduct. Until the 1980s, there was a railway line supplying factories here. Once derelict, decayed and ripe for demolition. But today, it’s a beautiful green avenue that winds its way a few meters above ground level between the apartment buildings.
