A 2009 (June/July) circlar tour of the Burgundy canals. We would give it a five star rating.
The tour takes in the Canal de Bourgonne, The wine coutry to link Dijon and Satenay, the Canal du Centre and finally the Canal du Nivernais.
We made several detours to places and routes which appealed to us in the planning stage.
The route is quiet and for most part traffic free. There are no substantial climbs.
We did the 445 miles (713km) in 15days to give time to enjoy the sights and the cafes.
This excludes the day rides we did to see some of the sights.
If you want easy riding, good food, interesting routes and the sun this could be the tour for you.
It follows the route set out on the excellent site:
www.la-bourgogne-a-velo.com
There is a book describing the route, although lacking detail route descriptions:
La Bourgone a Velo. Michel Bonduelle
