8 BXL 2021 BikeNode routes

The Brussels node network was created in the summer of 2020 with a team of 40 volunteer citizens. The aim was to continue to build on the existing network in Flanders around Brussels-Capital. The network is currently only available in digital format. The 8 proposed walks allow the inhabitants of Brussels as well as cycling tourists who are visiting for one day or longer to discover the whole of the Brussels region based on this network of nodes. From the must-sees in the city centre or the Atomium to the more unusual and lesser-known gems, these walks are suitable for families as well as for sports enthusiasts. ’Best of Brussels’ lets you explore the gems of the Brussels city centre, the European Quarter and Saint-Gilles. Did this walk tickle your fancy? Then why not continue the experience with the walk ‘Explore Maelbeek’? Or try ‘Industrial Brussels: South to North’, which crosses the capital from one side to the other along the canal that links Halle to Vilvorde. You can even hop on a boat with your bike for the return journey. Moving to the eastern part of the city, ‘The unusual and secret gems of Brussels’ surprises you with its anecdotes and little-known places. A must for Brussels residents who think they know their capital inside out! Looking to spend some time in nature with your family? ‘Brussels, the green city’ or ‘Rural Brussels’ allow you to explore the green corridors of Brussels. Are you a history and heritage enthusiast? Then ‘The Expo route: West to East’ takes you from the Atomium to the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervueren, passing along the ‘must-sees' in the city centre. Sports enthusiasts will be delighted with the ‘Brussels up- and downhill’ route. A great way to take on Brussels by bike and get a breath of fresh air!
