TransFrance 2011

A bicycle trekking tour starting in Moorsel (Tervuren, Belgium) to Saintes-Marie-de-la-Mer in the Camargue biosphere reserve (France). There are 15 stages to cover a total length of about 1400 km. In total 20000 m are to be climbed. The route is avoiding big towns and busy roads, rather it offers the opportunity to fully experience the beauty of the French countryside and its vineyards Bourgogne, Beaujolais, Côteaux du Lyonnais, Côtes du Rhône, and Côtes de Provence. Every stage starts and ends at a small hotel or B&B, hence enables to spend the night in a good bed. Most hotels and B&B serve meals in the evening. However, check carefully before leaving wheather the hotel or B&B still exists, and which services it still provides. On most stages there is the possibility to buy food and drinks. But, shops, restaurants and cafés are fairly rare over the complete length of the tour. Hence, be sure to get what you need when there is an opportunity to do so.
