FISHING ARCHIVE

The museum is located in the emblematic building of the Fishing Archive which is based in the Fishermen's Guild of Caión and where they store their historic archive.
In this building's basement, which is perfectly integrated in the sea, you will find a modern space where you can explore different periods of the town's fishing life. Through the exhibition's information panels, marine objects, old photographs and interactive displays you will get to know the story that goes from whaling (16th century) to the golden years of Galician fishing (20th century).
The shipwrecks' panel and 400 year old whale bones will be some of the curiosities that make you understand the culture of one of the towns with the most seafaring tradition of Galicia.
The building is accessible for people with disabilities and from here you can go to the port or start a lovely walk along the footpath that runs along the entire coast of Caión.
The origin
The Fishing Museum is an initiative sponsored by Fishermen's Guild of Caión to retrieve and to give value to its historical archive. It has the cooperation of the Association of Disabled (Adisma) and funding of the Town Council of A Laracha and the Xunta de Galicia, through the Costeira -GAC3 Costa da Morte Action Group.
