The 15th of July 1667 Christina of Sweden fled here through the backgate of her residence to the Swedish Embassy. She had caused riots in front of her house at the Krayenkamp by publicly celebrating the new pope Clement IX. Since those days the gate was named "Christinenpförtchen". It dissappeared in the 19th century, but the alley lived on with the same nickname until its demolition in the 20th century.
