This covered picnic area is located at the intersection of the Fonteinstraat and the Wulvedreef in the Wijnendalebos.
The noble families used the Wijnendalebos as a hunting lodge . The forest remained practically intact until the second half of the 18th century .
The construction of new roads encouraged deforestation and by the first half of the 19th century the extensive forest was already very fragmented. Many exotic species were planted for timber production.
