The temple was built in the fourteenth century , adjacent to the enormous Carmelite monastery of that time, built around the twelfth century. After the first interventions in 1514, the church was completely renovated in 1633. The monastery was renovated several times until it was demolished in 1905 to build a school.
The church is a beautiful example of Baroque art with two entrances: the first is in the main facade, rebuilt in the 19th century; the second is an elegant baroque stone portal of beautiful design.
Next to the secondary facade is an 18th-century stone bell tower .
